Application of Powder Metallurgy Automotive Parts in Online Control System of New Energy Vehicles

EHB electro-hydraulic braking can further improve vehicle braking safety and operability through software integration such as ABS (anti-lock braking system), EPB (Electronic Parking Brake System), ESP (Electronic Stability System), TCS (Traction Control System) and other functional modules. Let's talk about some typical applications of iron based powder metallurgy parts in these braking systems:

1. ABS (anti-lock braking system)

The ABS anti lock system, as the name suggests, is to prevent the vehicle from experiencing wheel lockup in emergency braking situations. The ABS system was applied very early in automobiles, and its principle is to generate a series of electromagnetic signals through wheel speed sensors installed on the axle, which are transmitted to the ECU for analysis and judgment, thereby controlling the ABS solenoid valve to perform operations. The speed sensing component inside the wheel speed sensor unit is made of powder metallurgy. Compared to traditional steel cutting, powder metallurgy products have the advantages of light weight, low cost, high processing accuracy, and high processing efficiency, making them very suitable for mass production of automobiles.

2. EPB (Electronic Park Brake System)

EPB electronic parking brake system, also known as handbrake. The traditional handbrake is a cable type, which transmits parking force to the parking mechanism through a lever. The degree to which the handbrake lever is pulled determines the amount of parking force, but its function is single and independent, and its structure is also simple. The operating mode of EPB has been changed to a button switch. By pressing and lifting the button, the ECU in the EPB sends a command, which is processed by the ECU and sends a parking command to the electronic parking actuator on the wheel. The electronic caliper clamps the brake pads through the motor for parking. The gear actuator inside the motor of the execution module in EPB is made of iron based powder metallurgy.
