In Cameroon, the automotive sector is characterized by a high volume of imported used vehicles and a growing need for robust maintenance parts. The tropical climate and diverse terrains, from the coastal areas of Douala to the highlands, accelerate the wear and tear of engine components, creating a critical demand for high-durability powder metallurgy parts.
Currently, most local workshops rely on conventional cast parts, which often fail under extreme thermal stress. The shift toward powder metal parts is becoming evident as logistics companies and transport operators seek components that offer superior porosity control and oil-retention properties to extend engine life.
Despite the lack of local sintering facilities, the import of precision PM parts has surged. This trend is driven by the government's push for industrialization and the need for standardized, interchangeable engine accessories that reduce vehicle downtime across the region.
